Alyssa Carr, B.A., J.D. 

Alyssa Carr is an associate lawyer with Kimberley A. Pegg Barristers, where she practices criminal defence and child protection law.

Alyssa was called to the Ontario Bar in 2025 after completing her articles with the firm. Her connection with KAP Barristers began in 2022, when she completed a Student Proposed Internship with the firm. The opportunity to work alongside and learn from the firm’s lawyers solidified her passion for criminal defence and child protection law, and has inspired her commitment to assist and advocate fiercely for vulnerable populations. 

Alyssa graduated from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 2024. Throughout law school, she gained experience in criminal defence and family law while working part-time at a local sole practitioner’s office. In addition, she worked as a student caseworker with the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic, served as an Associate Editor with the Ottawa Law Review and completed two Student Proposed Internships with local Ottawa criminal defence firms.

Prior to attending law school, Alyssa obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University, where she studied Sociology and English Literature. During her undergraduate studies, she was fortunate to spend a semester studying abroad at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia.

Beyond her legal practice, Alyssa is committed to advocacy within her community. Each fall, she organizes a local homelessness initiative that provides unhoused individuals with warm meals, care packages, and winter clothing, while also working to raise awareness of the homelessness crisis across Canada. She hopes to bring this same commitment to advocacy, compassion, and community service to her work as a lawyer.

Alyssa speaks English and is receptively fluent in Tagalog.
